Maruti Suzuki Asthayi Mazdoor Sangh updates on struggle and appeal for support

When today the entire police-administration is with the Maruti management, then in the coming days, we expect support and cooperation from all the progressive and pro-worker people and organizations of the society in our struggle for legitimate rights.

 

Gurgaon, 16 February: On 16 February, a meeting of active members of Maruti Suzuki Asthayi Mazdoor Sangh was organized at Gurgaon Prajapati Dharamshala. In the meeting, the ongoing ground struggle and legal fight was discussed in detail and future plans and different aspects of the organization were discussed. The following topics were discussed, and decisions were taken –

 

  1. The committee members of the Asthayi Mazdoor Sangh will participate in a tripartite discussion with Maruti Management and Labor Department officials in Gurgaon Labour Department tomorrow on 17 February on the demand letter that was submitted to the Gurgaon Labour Department with the signatures of workers on 10 January. On the day of the last meeting on 31 January, the workers were not able to participate in the meeting due to the repression and arrests by the police-administration. Discussions were held today in preparation for the tripartite meeting tomorrow.

 

  1. Legal process is being initiated in Chandigarh High Court on behalf of Maruti Suzuki Asthayi Mazdoor Sangh against the wrong and illegal use of Section 144 by Gurgaon administration and for the constitutional right to continue the peaceful dharna at Manesar Tehsil and “Manesar Chalo” program on 24 February. There is a date in the High Court on 18 February, in which the representatives of Maruti Suzuki Asthayi Mazdoor Sangh will reach Chandigarh. Strategies on legal action were discussed in today’s meeting.

 

  1. In order to strengthen the organization, it was decided that the process of membership will be started on behalf of Maruti Suzuki Asthayi Mazdoor Sangh. Also, some active comrades were included in the committee today.

 

  1. “Letter to the Prime Minister” abhiyan is going on from 1st February and more than 4000 letters signed by the workers have been submitted to the committee so far. This process will be carried out till next 1 March, and then these letters will be submitted by reaching the Prime Minister’s Office in Delhi.

 

  1. The program of “Manesar Chalo” has been announced on next 24 February. Discussions were held today regarding the preparation of this program. However, if there is any order from the High Court on 18 February, then there can be some changes in the outline of the program accordingly.

 

  1. This movement being run by Maruti Suzuki Asthayi Mazdoor Sangh is getting support from workers organizations across the country. Demonstrations and programs have been done in different states of the country including Delhi, Haryana (Kurukshetra, Faridabad, Kaithal), Uttarakhand (Rudrapur, Haridwar, Dehradun), Punjab (Ludhiana, Bhatinda), Uttar Pradesh (Ballia, Shamli), Bihar (Patna, Gaya, Rohtas), West Bengal (Kolkata, Bardhaman, Darjeeling), Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and so on by different organizations in support of Maruti workers. This support has given strength to the movement. The formation of Hero MotoCorp Asthayi Mazdoor Sangh and their support has also given us strength.

When today the entire police-administration is with the Maruti management, then in the coming days, we expect support and cooperation from all the progressive and pro-worker people and organizations of the society in our struggle for legitimate rights.
